Congregation of the Rogationist Fathers of the Heart of Jesus
Send, Lord, holy apostles to your Church.
The Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus is a clerical Religious Institute of apostolic life of pontifical right. By force of Baptism we are inserted into the Church. We recognize that she received by the Holy Spirit, through the Founder, Saint Hannibal Maria Di Francia, the special charisma that is the intelligence and zeal of the word of Jesus. The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few; Pray, therefore, to the Lord of the harvest to send workers into his harvest (cf. Mt 9:37-38; Lk 10:2). We live in chastity, poverty and obedience in the spirit of the fourth vow of the Rogate, which commits us to live, witness and spread this specific charism.
The spiritual and apostolic identity of the Congregation has its action, according to the example and teaching of the holy Founder in the mission of:
OUR FOUNDER: SAINT ANNIBAL MARÍA DI FRANCE
Messina, 1851-1927
Saint Hannibal Maria Di Francia perceived very early and very clearly the primary importance of prayer for vocations, according to the command of Jesus: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. Pray, therefore, to the owner of the harvest to send workers to his harvest" (Mt 9,37-38; Lk 10,2). The "Rogate" (De Rogate Dominum messis = Pray to the owner of the harvest) would define his charisma and that of his entire work. In 1964, assuming that inspiration, Pope Paul VI established the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.
In the Avignone neighborhood, the poorest and most degraded of his hometown, he founded the Antonian Orphanages. In 1887, to carry out her work of care and prayer, now spread throughout the world, she founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Divine Zeal of the Heart of Jesus and, ten years later, the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus.
On May 16, 2004, Pope John Paul II proclaimed him a Saint.
Since 1970, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Loreto, in Tarragona, has been in the care of the PP. Rogationists, who - in the opinion of the people of Tarragona - have developed and continue to carry out great pastoral and social work.
